The Hunger Action Team

For nearly 50 years, Providence Presbytery has worked to end hunger both locally and across the globe. The Hunger Action Team is in charge of the annual Dimes For Hunger collection. This program has raised more than $2 million -- one dime  at a time -- to end hunger in our local area and across the globe.

The goal is for participating families to donate one dime for every meal, every day during the collection, which traditionally happens in October. Half of the funds raised each year go toward feeding hungry people in the five counties within Providence Presbytery. The other half is sent to overseas mission partners.

Resources For Congregations

We have several resources for church leaders as they plan their Dimes for Hunger collection. The videos are useful to show to congregations or small groups to educate them about the program, where the money goes and how it is distributed.

Sixteen programs in Lancaster, Union, Chester and Kershaw counties received half of the collected funds in 2024. These include food pantries, feeding sites and meal delivery programs.

In 2024 Dimes for Hunger sent money to five different nonprofit partners in three countries. The donations helped feed people in Honduras, Malawi and Guatemala.

Resources For Children

Dimes for Hunger is a program in which everyone can participate! Even the youngest child can be helped to understand the important mission of making sure our local and global neighbors have enough food to eat.
