Who I Am ... I am Joel Winchip. I was born in Charleston and I grew up in Columbia, South Carolina. I attended Clemson University and the Presbyterian School of Christian Education (Richmond, VA). I hold a Masters degree in Christian Education and an Education Specialist degree in Camp and Conference Ministry. My journey before coming to Bethelwoods included working in many Presbyterian camps and conference centers including Camp Fellowship (Waterloo, SC), Camp Hanover (Mechanicsville, VA), Holston Presbytery Camp (Banner Elk, NC), Presbyterian Point (Clarksville, VA), Camp New Hope (Chapel Hill, NC), Camp Albemarle (Newport, NC), Cedarkirk (Lithia, FL) and Massanetta Springs (Harrisonburg, VA). I have been at Bethelwoods since February of 2000. My beautiful wife, Tammy, is the Director of Christian Education at Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill. We live in York with our two cats, Bob and Belvedere.
